How we operate – our financial advice services
When we give financial advice, to ensure that our financial advisers prioritise the client’s interests above their own, we follow an internationally recognised professional advice process to ensure our suggestions are made on the basis of the client’s goals and circumstances.

The FAP, and anyone who gives financial advice on our behalf, have duties under the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 relating to the way that we give advice.

Remuneration:
Compensation of commission may be paid to Road Trip Finance in the event your loan settles. The commission amount varies between zero and thirty percent of the loan amount. The commission amount is influenced by the final interest rate and the final lender interest rate current at the date of loan settlement. The payment date of commissions varies by lender, and can vary between the day of loan settlement to up to 6 weeks after settlement. For insurance products the commission can also vary, from zero percent to one hundred percent of the wholesale premium price.
A document origination fee may be charged to you between zero and two thousand five hundred New Zealand dollars, and may be determined by the the value of your loan and the lender you apply with. The exact fee will be disclosed to you in your loan offer.
If we are referred your business by an existing customer, or a car dealer or mortgage broker who we have a relationship with, we may pay them a referral fee.
Conflicts of Interest – Remuneration and Incentives
Road Trip Finance Limited receives income from lenders and insurers. The level of income received depends on the lender or insurer.
From time to time, product providers may also reward us for the overall business we provide to them. They may give us tickets to sports events, hampers, or other incentives. We maintain registers of conflicts of interests, and the gifts and incentives we receive.
We take any perceived or real conflicts of interest very seriously and have a dedicated policy for dealing with such issues whereby we avoid, disclose and/or manage any conflicts so that our client’s interests are placed first and foremost.
All our financial advisers undergo annual training about how to manage conflicts of interest. We undertake a compliance audit, and a review of our compliance programme annually.
Fees and Charges:
Road Trip Finance may charge an introducer/broker fee for its services. The amount charged for our introducer/broker fee may be between zero and two thousand five hundred New Zealand dollars. The broker/introducer fee will be disclosed to you before you commit to a loan. The broker fees are normally added to your final loan amount and our non-advised service fee is normally paid to us by the lender. Our lenders on our panel may also charge a loan establishment fee which varies depending on the chosen lender. The lender may charge other fees in addition to the establishment fee and interest charges, such as monthly account fees, early termination fees and missed repayment fees. These fees vary by lender and will be shown on your lender loan contract.
We will discuss all fees, charges and any lender specific terms and conditions with you. If you don’t decide to take out a loan you will not be charged an introducer/broker fee or a lender establishment fee.
Road Trip Finance offers insurance product options. No establishment fee is payable for taking out insurance products.
